Prof. Éva Kollár, former head of the department, is now a teacher at the Faculty of Music Teaching and Choral Conducting of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music - State University. She graduated from this institution in 1969 and received her title "habilitated university lecturer" in 1997. She was awarded Liszt Ferenc Prize in 1994. Between 1997 and 2001 she was Széchenyi Professorial Scholarship holder.
Éva Kollár's fields of research: a) Relations of choir voice-production and style of performance of Hungarian ensembles. b) New methodical elements in choir conducting teaching of the 21st century.
The Faculty of Music Teaching and Choral Conducting plays a significant role in our country's higher education. Its events, conducting conferences, conducting courses, concerts, and conducting competitions are open to teachers and students of fellow institutions. Hungarian professionals from beyond our country's borders take part regularly in these events. The Faculty receives guest students from several European countries (Spain, Scotland, Germany, Slovakia, Romania, Serbia), and China. Professors and artists of international reputation have visited and lectured at the Faculty. (Eric Ericson, Helmuth Rilling, Frieder Berbius, Pierre Cao, Simon Carrington, Roy Wales, Josep Vila i Casan~as, Wilko Brouwers, Max Frey).
In the academic year 1999-2000, the Conducting Doctoral School programme was launched; she has been the leader of the Conducting Sub-programme. Three students received their final certificate so far, and another five take part in the regular training at present.
Kollár Éva is the founder of the Budapest Monteverdi
Choir. During the thirty-two years she was awarded numerous prizes of rank at international competitions. (Grand Prix: Arezzo, Cork, Camerino, Pécs, Sligo; and several prizes: Gorizia, Linz, Llangollen, Spittal a.d. Drau, Tours, etc.) with the choir. Their music is preserved on a number of CD, radio and television recordings. The Choir is the founder and organiser of the International Monteverdi Festivals held in Budapest and Esztergom. The ensemble takes part regularly at the Budapest Mini Festival, and first performed many pieces of Hungarian and foreign composers.

On behalf of the Institution of Musical Sciences, Éva Kollár wrote musical history studies on the topic "19th century choral pieces and songs in Hungary" for four years.

Éva Kollár has given several lectures home and abroad about Hungarian method of musical education;, she held courses in Canada, University of Edmonton, as well as in several European countries (Austria, Belgium, France, Poland, Great-Britain, Germany, Spain). Beyond other programmes, she held a series of eight parts in the Hungarian Radio titled "Volumes of Madrigal by Claudio Monteverdi" and published a number of musical presentations in the radio series "Kórusainknak ajánljuk" (To Choirs' attention). She edited a two-volume anthology from the 20th century Hungarian choral works under the titles "Echoes from the Magical Forest" (pieces for mixed choirs) and "Flower and Butterfly" (pieces for male's, female's and children's choirs). /Athenaeum 2000 - Rózsvölgyi Publisher/ co-editor /Co-editors: István Párkai, Ferenc Sapszon./ She published a CD-anthology titled "Centuries of Hungarian Choral Music"in 2003 /Co-editor: István Párkai /.
Éva Kollár is President of the Association of Hungarian Choirs and Orchestras (KÓTA), and vice-president of the Hungarian Kodály Association. She is member of the Musical Committee of AGEC (/Arbeitsgemeinschaft Europäischer Chorverbände), presidential member, and artistic advisor of the choral organisation Europa Cantat. She has been jury member of various international choral competitions home and abroad (Arezzo, Budapest, Cork, Debrecen, Gorizia, Maribor, Marktoberdorf, Mechelen, Tallinn, Tours, etc.). She was conductor of AGEC-Eurochor in Budapest, workshop leader in Marktoberdorf and Barcelona, at the Europa Cantat Festival. She founded the International Competition of Young Conductors, held for the first time in 2001 at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music (in cooperation with KÓTA and the international choral organisations Europa Cantat and AGEC). She has been lecturer at international conferences, summer schools, and professional courses.
